Hope I live to tell the secret
Jim called me at 8:30am to tell me he was just wheeled in and now we would just wait until the doc was done which could be anywhere from 2-4-6 hrs.
I called him at 11:30am and dad was still in there but Jim said he had talked to a lady who was there to comfort family members and to explain what to expect. She really helped Jim a lot and said Dad might still be another hour and a half so relax and get a coffee. This is when he told me about the funny stuff dad did when he was drugged. He was given a little bag with a gown, slippers and a cup and told to take a shower. He knew what to do with the gown and slippers and thought about what he was suppose to do with the cup. So what does dad do...he pees in it and sets it down for the nurse. They were all laughing and told dad that the cup was for dentures.
hahahhaha
That helped. Dad's so cute!
So Jim calls me later and tells me the doc is done, surgery went well and dad is being taken to a Cardiac Intensive care unit where Jim will wait for another few hours in a separate waiting room. He let me know when he was on his way home that dad was awake and Jim talked to him but he had a tube in his throat as well as tubes sticking out of him and he wasn't too happy about that. Nurses said he was doing exceptionally well and they might have him sitting up and talking by that evening.
Of course when Jim was feeling good and on the way out of there he happend to pass by the old waiting room he was in only to hear another family being told thier relative didn't make it. Talk about a shock. This is how close dad really was and poor Jim had to sit right there through the anxiety the entire time waiting for that possibilty that the doc would come to him like that but hoping dad would pull through.
Dad's doing really well now and I am so thankfull for that. Now onto the caring part. I'm looking forward to seeing him and helping him out. I know by the time I am on my way home we will have had enough of each other but I'm glad I could be there that long to help him. Yes...Aunt Judy is even giving him a bell to ring. I actually thought of that myself. I will need him to have it so he doesnt have to yell for me. Poor thing will be in so much pain.
What a day yesterday was too. I'm glad its all over and I'm glad Mow, Dad, and Emmi are all ok.
Whew.....now I can relax and actually get some work done.
