At a standstill

Hopped on the scale at 6am yesterday and it read 228.7, hoppped on it at 9:30am and it said 226. ARRRGHHH! Hopped on it again today, 228. What the hell is going on? I guess I'm expecting too much. Poor Greg is having trouble too but he did very good excerising and eating good. I, on the other hand, exercised for only 20 mins last night and ate grilled cheese and fries for lunch out of frustration. Good 'ol Greg told me..."Well, that was your cheat for the weekend." He's right. I can't lose weight if I eat bad when I'm frustrated.

Well, I got a strange but happy call from Aunt Mary. The conversation went something like this:

Aunt M: "Hi Karri, do you get the Gazette?"
Me: "Yes, I think so but I haven't look at it."
Aunt M: "Well you might want to."
Me: "Oh really?"
Aunt M: "There's an Unclaimed Property section and it has your name in there."
Me: "What! Wow!"
Aunt M: "Go check it out and call the number, maybe you have a million dollars waiting for you."

I was all smiles and ran downstairs to grab the paper. I had to call her back cause I couldn't find it so she told me the number, case number, and web address to go to. Sure enough, there it was! It had some strange Owings Mill address so I was like, "What property do I own in Owings Mill?" Told mom and she said it must be another Karri Williford. HAHAHA. My name is so unique, how could there be?

Brought a form and copies of my proof of being in and called. They said it was a Giant account. I did recently found 2 old old checks I never cashed from '99 and '00 that totaled just under $100. It's gotta be that or there could be something else I never cashed that I didn't find. Fun though!!

I suggest all of you go to the website NOW! You just never know!

We'll see!

I hear Jim's back!! I hope you had a safe trip Jim and I can't wait to hear all about it!

Hmmmm

I exercised outside on some hilly areas and some flat areas on my bike. I loved it. We were out there for 33 minutes but that was more than enough. My legs got a great workout. It was beautiful but I was very shakey on the bike so I was looking ahead or at my handle bars most of the time. Tonight I biked indoors and did that for 60 minutes going back and forth between easier and hard while watching the Pelican Brief.

Greg discovered Blue October and now I'm in love with the band. I went to thier site www.blueoctoberfan.com where you can hear a bunch of songs form old CD's and have been listening non stop. We grew attached to thier radio hit thats out, "Hate me" and it's such a powerful song about a guy who is trying to let his mother live her own life after years of trying to help him through alcohol addiction. The video shows this as well. It's so powerful it actually makes me tear up and I balled during the video. It's sad in a cute way. I never had to go through this but I know if I did, mom would be right by my side helping me through it. It's a mom appreciation song...sort of.

We saw Jason at the Westside Cafe Sat. He is awesome! I didn't know he doesn't sing and that it would be guitar only but it was great! He has a blues feel to it and what I thought was, I could play this in the background and create some nice artwork because it allows room for thoughts. Loved it! He seems to appreciate that we were there with our posse.

I'm excited for two vacations coming up. We're going to attempt to drive 10 hours on a Friday to Atlanta WITH our dogs and drive back Monday so we can visit Nano. It's cheaper than flying and I'm excited to see what Atlanta's like. We're also going up to Tera Alta, WV with the dogs for a week in May. Gotta bring the dogs because of the runt Maverick and his biting. But we're fine with that. We deal with it as we go.

No more weight loss yet. But I think I might be gaining muscle with all this exercise I'm doing. I'm trying not to let it get me down. We'll see!

So Close!!

Unbelieveable - Dad was right!

It's been hard eating better and not eating the things we've been use to so I allowed for a Sat. cheat day. Last week we had something bad on Friday but I want this to be a weekly thing and eventually we may not want it as much. But, we went shopping yesterday and got a steak and cheese sub with fries. Then we bought girl scout cookies (bad idea because they last more than a day) and snacked on those for dinner pretty much. That might have been a bit too much of a cheat but I got up today to see the damage and I'm still down to 227!! I did have a few cookies today but I'm bringing the rest to work so I don't finish them.

I biked for 33 mins and we went for a 22 min. mile walk with the pups. Today starts the week fresh. Dad always use to tell me when he lost his 70lbs, the reason why it worked is because he allowed for a day to eat what he's been craving (as long as it isn't too overboard). It tricks your body when you do that. If you eat less for a while, you're body will plateau but if you trick it and eat high calories every so often, it continues to do it's magic.

I do feel guilty but I'm glad the weight didn't all come back.

Spacey

I haven't recorded weight because, well, it went down then back up a lb. You know what...F it..my starting weight is 234 and I'm now down to 228. From now on I'm going to put the numbers here. I'll be proud of the numbers once I hit those major milestones. Right now I want to get to 224 as my first goal but when I get to 199 it will be a huge feat for me. I haven't been below 200 in at least 5 years. Shoot, I haven't been 224 for a year.

There! *sigh* I said it.

I exercised for 45 minutes last night on the bike and have been doing really well with my foods. I mean Greg and I have done a complete 360. No eating burgers or fries or taco bell or anything like that. We snack on pretzels, apple sauce, canned pineapples, and peanut butter crackers. We eat subs, sandwiches and salads for lunches and dinners. This isn't great but its a hell of lot better than the greesy foods we were eating constantly. We need to focus on food later but for now I'm trying to get more water in each day and focus on exercising just about every night. I've done some exercise every day this week.

It may not help me much to look at the scale everyday cause when it goes up a lb I get sad. But it just makes me want to work at it more.

Tonight's plan is to bike for 30 mins and do crunches and arm exercises with weights. I want to start working on muscles too. I've heard muscle helps burn calories faster and that's my goal!

Fat people suck!

Just kidding....

I really enjoyed reading Dan's article on overweight people dealing with acceptance and moving on. Read his blog for my comments. I haven't had to deal with too much but I have heard it all and see it on TV. Greg and I were talking about how it can go the other way too. He grew up with a girl who never fully developed. Had a skinny body and a flat chest. She tried so hard to eat lots of food to fatten up and nothing worked. Its just as frustrating if not more frusting to have that problem than it is to be obese. But no one has the same body type and thats the fun in seeing a difference in people. If everyone were the same we'd be boring as hell.

I bought a bike last night at Dick's Sporting Goods. $250 for a nice bike and warranty. It's a Diamondback 15". My toes barely touch the ground but its very comfortable. I can't wait to try it out!

I'm down another lb today!! Thats a 7lb loss in just under 2 weeks. I know this streak will end at some point then I'll have to move on to different things to up the stakes but I'm enjoying this quite a bit!

I am sooooo proud of Greg too. He's lost 6lbs and is doing fantastic. I'm very proud *sniff*.

So far so good!

Another lb down! I am actually shocked by this. I ate bad a couple of times throughout the weekend and only exercised for 40 min's yesterday. I didn't exercise at all Friday or Sat. But thats ok because I feel great for losing that weight! My nails can't wait for this manicure.

I bought Greg Grey's Anatomy Season 1 for his birthday and we just started watching it yesterday. We saw Episodes 1-6 I think. I'm so addicted but there's only 9 episodes in the first season....why? :( I love this show!

Got hit by another car yesterday and it cracked my bumper. Now I have to go through the hassle of calling it in and having someone take a look at it. I definately want it replaced because I want my car to last and look nice along the way.

Not ready for Monday but am working on it. Gotta go get some coffee soon....

Happy St. Patty's Day!!

I've never really made a big deal about St Patty's day but I am a high percentage of Irish so I feel like I should. I drank some Guiness last night and toasted to my Uncle John. I wonder if he ever really celebrated St. Patty's Day, for some reason I thought he might have.

I am another lb down today!!! That puts me at a 5lbs loss in a little over a week.

Went the dentist for the first time in 2 years. Have a few small cavities that need to be taken care of and need a scaling done. Same thing for Greg. Except Greg needs his wisdom teeth pulled and as tough of a guy as he looks, he is scared to have that done. Maybe its because I told him they did local anesthesia for me. But they said they would put him to sleep.

Got Emmi groomed and OMG she looks adorable! They even put little white bows on her with silver stars. Greg immediately wanted to pull them off but not until after I got a picture. Everyone there was telling me how wonderful and sweet she is and when I walked her to the register....lets just say there were alot of "Awwwwws."

Now onto more St. Patty's day celebrations!

Pills?

Still the same weight today, which is good because I worked from 7:30am-8:00pm and was exhausted when I got home. Today I've had about 1500 cals and plan on biking for at least 30 minutes tonight even though I'm working a bit of overtime again.

Mom got me thinking, I may have a problem losing weight. It may be medication or a health problem that can cause me to put the weight on and not come off. I've been tested for thyroid, diabetes, and other problems in the past and I'm fine but I do have the one problem (PCOS) that can cause weight gain which I'm on meds for. I hope thats not the case. I would really like to be able to lose this weight on my own because if it is a health problem, I'm sure the docs won't figure out whats causing it. They never do, they just say I'm fine.

But either way, I'm not going to stop exercising and eating better because my heart appreciates it and my lungs appreciate it. My muscles are too weak also and I want to work on them when I get some weight off. I hate huffing and puffing everywhere I go. It's not cool.

Goals

First mini goal (see below)

The plan is to not get my nails done until I make this first goal.

Goal #2 will be 20lbs and that will be a pedicure and a manicure.

Goal #3 will be a landmark for me at 35lbs and I'm taking myself shopping for clothes because by then I'll need a smaller size.

:)

I Want a Vacation!

Photo's from Mom's Camera

Isn't that little puppy the most adorable. Thats the last time anyone was able to actually hold him above ground I'm sure. These pics were taken 2 years ago. If I can get back down to that weight I'll be happy. But I'm not stopping there.

Eventful evening

I decided to be adventurous and take BOTH dogs by my self for a walk around our lake twice. This equals a mile. It took me 26 mins for the whole walk then I came home and biked for 17. My walk was cut shorter than I wanted it to be because well, Maverick was occupied by the walk the first time around while Emmi yanked and pulled but by the second time around Emmi slowed down and Maverick became bored with the whole walking thing. He decided to try to pick up and eat goose poo. I had to reel him in close by my side while Emmi got a second wind and began yanking again. I decided two times with these F*ers was enough! But they were so happy to get out and they had huge smiles on their faces (this means tounges were out full force and they kept looking back at me wagging thier tale). I was happy to make them happy.

Got home, had tuna on wheat with light mayo and milk (save fruit for snack later) and began to bike while watching RoadHouse. Maverick, exausted, walked over to me and layed down. A minute later he was throwing up water and his food all over the place. I know right now mom is reading this and thinking, "Ew, I hate dogs!" Yeah, luckily we bought warranty on our carpet cleaning which means they'll come back out to clean for a cheap price.

That brings me here. I'm glad I exercised, I don't think i'll take them for a walk at the same time again by myself because I just know he ate something he shouldn't have, and I'm tired enough to get a good nights sleep.

zzzzzz

Boohoo.

Well that last 2lbs was just a mirage or something. It came back this morning but it probably meant I didn't really lose it to begin with. I have also decided I CANNOT get up a half our earlier in the morning to exercise. This would put my alarm clock at 5:15 and 5:45 is early enough. I will have to do my exercising at night.

I brought water, pretzels and pears to snack on for work so I don't get so overly hungry that I pig out.

I just saw a recent pick of Janet Jackson who had gained a ton of weight. She looks good!!! She's been working hard at it for a while with a personal trainer. For some reason I can't find a good before pic but this is her now:

I know celebs have chefs and personal trainers but its still a motivation for me to keep going when I see someone else has lost a lot of weight.

Sunday, March 12, 2006

Woohoo!

Another 2lbs down! I'm on the right track. I biked Thursday, skipped Friday and biked for 40 min's yesterday. Today I'm taking Emmi for a walk and then coming back to bike for 20 min. This can get easily addicting as long as I'm seeing a weight drop.

I looked into an actual bike to purchase and found one I like for $230. I just have to save up for it now. Since Greg has a bike we'll go biking to mix up the exercising more once I get one.

Cool! I love nice days.

Ticker Tracker Thingy

Ok, this is what I will continue to update with my weight loss. I am down 2lbs from a few days ago when I last weighed myself. I went home and exercised on the bike for 20 mins and ate a salad for dinner. I did have 2 beers also but like I said, I want to focus on my exercise first. I've decided at least 20 mins a day to start is good then I'll work up from there. I'm going from doing absolutely nothing to 20 mins a day. Most people only work out 3 times a week.

We saw a few friends at Summit Station last night and sat outside where it was soooooo nice. A blues band was playing and a group of older people were dancing and making out right next to us. They were so drunk. One guy threw his cigarette on the ground and couldn't find where he threw it to stomp it out. I just can't believe they left right from there to drive home. But it was fun to see a few people we don't usually get to see.

Now onto another day of work and my first full day of starting over with the exercising!

Thursday, March 09, 2006

It's that time again

Time for me to work on this weight issue again...it just keeps creeping even though I've been around the same weight (within 5lbs) for a year now. I don't want to post my weight here but I may post the total I want to lose and see that number go down. I would like to lose 94lbs. There, I said it. That number will go down!

I'm going home and biking tonight. I've decided to get up at 5:15 instead of 5:45 to bike for a half hour each morning. My Dr. actually told me with a stern voice that there is NO REASON everyone can't get 45 min's of walking in a day. NO REASON! I'm sticking to 30 for now. I need to focus on one thing at a time and right now, that's to work on my lungs and heart with exercise.

I'll post any weight loss whenever I see it. I'm a "weigh myself everyday" kind of person when I'm trying to lose weight so we'll see if I actually post a loss or gain every day. I'll try to make better choices with food but I'm not going to obsess over it right now; otherwise this will all be too overwhelming for me and as I've said before I'm rebelious by nature. I'll throw it all out in a heart beat.

I know I can do this. Go me!

Show me, show me, show me, how you do that trick..

This weekend was a blast! I was so ready for work to be done on Thursday but came in for overtime for a bit Friday anyway. We had some young electricians (who stole our soda!) over to put some lights in the backyard for the party and put a fan in our bathroom. Then Nano rings the doorbell to surprise Greg at 9:30pm. Greg was pretty mad at him and upset that he didn't get a ticket so he thought he couldn't come up, but he found a way.

Saturday, we had a lot of friends over. I was really looking forward to seeing a few that didn't show up but I'm hoping they'll invite me over thier place sometime. I was so happy to see Jen there and everyone else who came! Jim and Jason set up a live show with Lee standing in for a comedy act here and there and we had lots to drink and eat. It was a huge success from what people are telling me and I may have hooked a friend up with Jim. We'll have to see how that goes.

Sunday wasn't the best birthday for Greg but Saturday made up for it.

It's back to work for both of us and I can't wait to get a bit of a vacation in May.

Poor Maverick has an ear infection so we're cleaning it out and putting drops in his ear once a day. He doesn't like it very much so we both have to practically sit on him to get him to sit still but he'll be better soon, hopefully. His ear flops and itches him. It's pretty cute actually.

BTW, Moe took this adorable picture of Maverick.

Burnt out and ready to party!

I can't wait for this week to hurry up and be done with it. Another old friend just found me on myspace and I invited her to the party too. This is crazy. I was just thinking to myself how I never kept a good group of friends for any length of time. I thought of this after watching Sisterhood of the Traveling pants (very cute movie). Maybe through myspace I'll find a few of them again.
